Congratulations to the winners of the 2026 UNDE Memorial Scholarships.
Paige Blakely Local 00619 Borden, Ontario is awarded the Pat McGrath Scholarship. Paige will attend the Georgian College to become a Paramedic. They have participated in many school activities promoting student safety, Health & Wellness and mentoring younger students so that they feel safe in the school environment. Paige is a Mental Health Ambassador and went to elementary schools talking about strains and mental health in High Schools. Paige is very proud of the work they did at a summer camp working with children with disabilities. Paige hopes to give back to their community through their work as a paramedic.
Zane Radawiec, Local 21007 Comox, BC is awarded the Ken Green Scholarship. They are enrolled at the Victoria University for a bachelor’s degree in engineering. Zane has an interest in developing alternative uses for single use plastics. Zane has participated in VEX Robotics and has helped lead their team to the World Championship three times. Zane also plays bass in the school jazz band.
Ellisa Schram, Local 50704 Shilo, Manitoba, is awarded the Gary Smith Scholarship. Ellisa will attend the Brandon University for a Bachelor of Arts / Education. They would like to be a Middle School Teacher. Ellisa is active in a local choir and participates in multiple musicals.
Tran Bao NGOC (Sarah), Local 21009 Victoria, BC is awarded the Don Butcher Scholarship. Sarah is enrolled at the University of Victoria, pursuing a Bachelor of Psychiatry Degree. Sarah is finishing an International Baccalaureate Program that focuses on globally minded individuals. They volunteer at a local hospital for the last two years and this has helped them understand the importance of active listening and the importance of human connection in healing.
